Article received from Teal Van Lanen
Prior to my first group exercise class at ACWC, I dropped in on a Monday morning to participate in a “Just Dance” class. Teal VanLanen, Algoma School District, had said the class was open to anyone, so I really had no idea of what to expect. The multi-purpose room was filled with not only the young at heart, but also a dozen or so high school kids. Everyone was moving (some more energetically than others) and definitely having fun. This one time experience spoke volumes to me about the vision and the passion of the Algoma Community Wellness Center.
I have been leading a group exercise class since December of 2015 on Wednesday mornings. This past fall we added a Monday morning class and have had the pleasure of a multi-generational group. I believe this to be a unique opportunity and an inspiration for all of us. The learning never ends! Physical health is only one of the benefits. Whole health is the concept and can be a reality only if you pursue it.
