The Survey’s Purpose
A city’s comprehensive plan starts with finding out what the perceptions of the people are. How or what is the city doing well? Are there problems with what or how the city is doing? Would you like to see changes in terms of housing, parks, programs, streets, sidewalks, retail development, private service businesses, recreation, maintenance programs, and city services?
Right now the City of Algoma has a Comprehensive Planning Survey out that will help them shape the ten-year comprehensive plan. This plan will guide the current and future City governments in their planning and decision making. It will also provide all of us with a document we can use to think about our own way forward. This plan will reflect the attitudes and wishes of people who live here, work here and even just visit here.
What has been your experience of Algoma? Did you have a hard time finding a house, condo, or apartment that meets your needs and circumstances? Alternatively, did you find we have too many places available? How do you rate the condition of our city? What should be the priority over the next 5 years of city budgeting? Is having a municipally owned long-term care facility of value to you? How about sidewalks and bike routes and trails?
You get a voice in this process. Live Algoma urges you to use that voice and participate in the survey process. With all of you, we make the community stronger and hear all voices tell their perspective of Algoma
How to take the Survey
The comprehensive plan survey is 11 pages long and takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.
